Where'd 2022 go?

How’d it get to be the end of the year already?  Normally, we travel to at least a half dozen art shows a year, making it pretty easy to mark how quickly the year passes.  This year, we decided not to do shows, and now I’m not sure how we arrived here at the end of the year.  

In any case, I’ve been having a lot more fun in my studio than I have in awhile.  Without having to produce a ton of inventory to bring on the road with me, I’ve had more time to spend on meaningful custom work and other small batch projects.  Three examples are below.

Another thing I’ve had the time to do is take jewelry classes.  I signed up with an online academy, my first course is saw piercing.  The intricateness of sawing these patterns is challenging enough, but it’s just as difficult to file and finish the piece after sawing it all out.   So even though I've finished sawing these three pieces out, I still have a lot of filing and finishing work before they're done.  Yikes.  (And these are the easy ones! 😂)

Also, not being on the road has given me a chance to do other things, like pick up the flute again after decades (so satisfying!), and start taking saxophone lessons, which has been hilarious if nothing else.  🎷😆

​And, we just took in these  two foster cats.  Though I've thought about fostering for awhile, it was never feasible while we were on the road.  I've been thinking about it again since we canceled our shows this year, and when these girls suddenly and sadly lost their mother, I realized that it was time.

Anyway, stay tuned...it seems like we've finally settled into a new normal around here.  I have a new laptop and new photo editing software that I've figured out how to use, so I'm posting new stuff to my store regularly!  Meanwhile, enjoy the rest of your year and happy holidays!
