A couple Creative projects

Normally this time of year, if I’m not on the road headed to one art show or another, I’m locked in my studio making inventory for summer shows.  When I’m making jewelry to bring with me to shows, my focus is less on creating and more on producing.  While production can be tedious, one perk is that it’s a great time to refine skills.  Nothing like making 3 or 4 or 5 of the same design to get really good at the techniques involved.  It doesn't however, leave much time for designing new pieces.

This year though, all shows were of course cancelled, so I’ve been able to devote more studio time to creating.  I have a running list of ideas and projects, and I’ve actually crossed a few off the list.  One project I’ve been wanting to get to for quite awhile is this triangle project.  This tray of triangle pieces is what I’m left with after I make a few pairs of my Flip Earrings.

Another project I’ve been wanting to get to for awhile is a ring for my mom.  I know she’d like (or tell me that she likes 😊) pretty much anything I made for her, but I wanted to try to make something in her style. Guessing someone else’s taste and style can be tricky, but she seems to be drawn to Art Deco.  I don’t know much about Art Deco style, so I did a little light reading online, looked at a lot of photographs and came up with this ring.

And when I posted the photo of my mom’s ring on instagram, I was pretty excited when the lovely owner of this hand asked me to make one for her in onyx.  Can't wait to make another one.  What color would you like?
